The short of it: I'm designing a browser-based MMORPG. The battles are turn-based, so I figure the smoothest way to do them would be in a Flash applet. The applet would have to have some secure way of interacting with the server and a database (so it can determine stuff such as the units at the location, and report wins/losses).

As a complete novice in designing Flash games (but not at programming), I turn to you eks-kay-ceedians for advice.

1. I'm considering buying Flash CS4, but I hear it is a thousand more complicated than CS3, and things that only took 1 line of code now require 20. Is CS3 a better choice?
2. Is Flash even the best choice of platform for this?
3. Of least importance at this point... can anyone recommend any good sources of advice on making Flash applets and PHP sites secure against hacking?

No code has been written yet (only UML, design pages, etc) so there is no platform set in stone yet. In case it's not clear I plan to use PHP for the rest of the site.

Thanks for reading.
go for FLASH CS4 , its kinda difficult but it has more features than CS3
Actually it is depends on you because you can make the game in any of the platform but the main thing about the game is, it should look amazing and that can be played with the great thrill.
